Cherry Picker (EWP) Safe Work Procedure or Work Method Statement
The six page Safe Work Method Statement outlines the Safety Steps required to operate a Cherry Picker Safely.
Cherry Picker's need to be used with caution and appropiate safety procedures. The Cherry Picker procedure is ready to use and is not a blank template. Safety Procedures can be edited or customised in MS Word if required.

Cherry Picker Safety Notes
Before Operating A Cherry Picker:
- Never elevate the machine when wind speeds exceed 12.5m/sec
- Always wear a harness in boom type elevated work platforms.
- Position outrigers or stabilizers.
- Do not use as a crane or lifting device.
- Locate and understand your Safe Work Load (S.W.L.)
Asbestos Removal Safety Notes
Before Removing
Consider the following:
- Was the building built before 1990?
- Is the surface of fibro construction?
- Is there any friable asbestos behind the surface?
When Removing Asbestos Always

Ensure that;
- Power tools are not to be used for cutting or drilling sheets.
- Use a nail punch to punch all nails through the sheets and into the timber.
- Use a large punch to cut a hole around screws.
- Prise sheets away from timber framing using a pinch-bar or similar.Keep sheets intact where possible.
- Unnecessary breaking of asbestos-cement sheeting must not be permitted.

General Asbestos Safety Continued
- Asbestos waste should be collected in heavy-duty 200 μm (minimum thickness) polythene bags that are no more than 1200 mm long and 900 mm wide.
- Only previously unused bags should be used.
NOTE - Bags marked for asbestos waste should not be used for any other purpose. - Bags to be labelled with a warning, clearly stating that they contain asbestos and that dust creation and inhalation should be avoided.
- An example of a warning statement which might be used is:
CAUTION – ASBESTOS - DO NOT DAMAGE OR OPEN BAG - DO NOT INHALE DUST - CANCER AND LUNG DISEASE HAZARD
