Rigging Safety Notes

Requirements:

Certification is required for all rigging work.  The Basic Rigging Certificate encompasses the requirements for the Dogging Certificate..

Before Lifting:

  • Inspect harness for damage
  • Inspect and insure correct operation of inertia reel.   
  • Check that the anchor point or static line are correctly located and have not been damaged.
  • Ensure that the harness is correctly fitted, adjusted and connected to anchor point or static line.

Rigging With Chains

Check for damage such as:

  • Stretching or bending of links
  • Small dents on the surface of links
  • Wear on parts of the links that seat each other
  • Deformation
  • Rust, nicks or gouges, pitting or corrosion and
  • Links that are locked or without free movement.
