When Using Gantry Cranes Always
Ensure that;
- The rated load capacity of the crane, hoist, chain, cable, slings, or other components WILL NOT be exceeded.
- The hoist rope is not wrapped around the load.
- Slings, load chains and other lifting devices are securely seated on the hook. (No twist that could cause the load to swing.)
- The hoist is located directly above the load to be lifted.
- The load is properly secured and balanced. This can be checked as the load is lifted slightly. Reposition the sling if required.
General Gantry Safety Continued
- Raise the load sufficiently to clear any obstructions. A minimum clearance of 500 mm should be sufficient.
- Do not push or pull on the load. The load should hang vertically below the hoist at all times.
- Position the hoist directly above where the load is to be placed.
