Additional Safety Information for Circular Saws

Circular saws:

  • Can generate noise in excess of 85 dB(A) so hearing protection is vital.
  • Are designed to cut and will cut through hands, arms etc. just as easy as wood. Safe Work Method Statements must be adopted and adhered to.
  • Are designed for right-hand operation; left-handed operation requires greater concentration and training.

Some Circular Saw blades tend to ring when cutting through material, causing a high pitched whine. The ring is caused by vibration of the blade due to the shock waves from the cutting teeth. Purchase anti-vibration blades where possible.
